During a three-day safari, we spend a lot of time touring the Kruger National Park, one of the best wildlife reserves in the world. The majority of operators only offer three-hour morning and afternoon drives, but Kurt Safari was among the first to offer full-day safaris on our three-day safari itineraries since the KNP is so large.
Unlike short 3-hour safaris that have to stay near to the camps and drive the same regions every safari, this allows clients to view a greater portion of the Kruger and diverse areas. Although it may seem exhausting to spend an entire day in the KNP, the guides make many stops at lookout areas and rest camps. As we go through various grasslands and ecological zones over the longer period, there is a greater potential of sighting more species.
A sunset/night safari on day one, a full day open vehicle safari on day two, and an early morning safari in the Kruger Park on day three are all included in your three-day Best of Kruger package.
On 3-day safaris, 80% of our customers see all five of the Big Five.
Kurt Safari uses the Sanbonani Hotel and Umbhaba Eco Lodge, which are located These 4-star, privately owned, high-quality lodges are located just outside of Hazyview, and it takes less than 15 minutes to go to the Phabeni Gate, which is the main wildlife area in Kruger.

Note that these are departures that are shared. We will arrive at our Hazyview resort between 11:30 am and 12:00 pm after making the direct trip there. After having time to unwind, unpack, and eat a little lunch, guests can swim or take a stroll around the lovely Lodge and walking route. We leave for a sunset/night safari in the Kruger National Park at roughly 15.45 p.m., and we return to the lodge for a delicious dinner and a restful night's sleep at around 20 p.m.
Day 2: Full Day open vehicle safari in the Kruger National Park (Breakfast & Dinner)
Since Mpumalanga is the first province in South Africa to witness the sunrise, all safaris begin before the sun rises. This is the highlight of the day; we have no idea what to anticipate. After a quick trip to the park, we approach the gates, and your guide will know where to look for animals, such as the Big 5 and plains game. It is also the greatest time of day to spot predators.
After roughly three hours, your guide will pause for breakfast, a restroom break, and an opportunity to grab coffee. The Lodge will set up breakfast packets. We then carry on with your safari; Kruger has a number of eco zones, each of which is home to a distinct diversity of species. We explore plains and Bushveld areas, as well as rivers and watering holes.
After lunch at a rest camp, where you are responsible for paying for your own food, it is time to go shopping or have a refreshing drink! After that, the guide will lead the safari back to the resort, where we will arrive between 15.30 and 16.00 pm. There, we may unwind, swim, and have a delicious meal.
DAY 3: Morning safari and Transfer back to Johannesburg (Breakfast)
We will have another packed breakfast at one of the rest camps or picnic areas before leaving the lodge for the final safari before sunrise. Since lions and leopards are most active in the early mornings, the guide will concentrate on creatures that we were unable to see on the first two safaris. There are more than 500 bird species and 148 mammal species in the Kruger National Park. So much to see and capture on camera.
We will continue the safari after a brief stop for coffee and breakfast, arriving back at the lodge at around noon.
Here, you bid your guide farewell and get changed before returning to Johannesburg. Clients are picked up by the shuttle at approximately 12.30 PM, and we arrive between 17:00 and 18:00 PM at the Johannesburg OR Tambo shuttle station and lodges within a 5-kilometer radius.
