5-Day Garden Route Uncovered Tour

Meet your guide and fellow travellers before departing west along the Garden Route, following the Indian Ocean coastline framed by mountain ranges and indigenous forests. Travel through scenic landscapes en route to Tsitsikamma, where you’ll settle in for the night.

Overnight: Tsitsikamma

After breakfast, visit Tsitsikamma National Park and the dramatic Storms River Mouth (weather permitting). The park is known for its rugged coastline, forested gorges and sweeping ocean views.

Continue to Knysna, a vibrant town set on a picturesque lagoon. In the afternoon, enjoy a sunset lagoon cruise to the Knysna Heads before dinner at a well-known local restaurant.

Travel inland via the scenic Outeniqua Pass, stopping at Dolphin Point in Wilderness for panoramic views. Arrive in Oudtshoorn, the ostrich capital of the world.

Visit a working ostrich farm for an interactive tractor tour, followed by a light lunch featuring regional specialities. Later, explore the impressive Cango Caves, one of South Africa’s most remarkable natural attractions. The evening is at leisure.

After breakfast, continue through the Little Karoo to Barrydale, where a visit to a local farm school may take place if the school is open. Our Barrydale Farm School Development Fund, which supports local education for disadvantaged children in rural communities, receives a share of the trip proceeds.

Travel onwards via the Tradouw Pass and Swellendam to Hermanus, widely regarded as one of the best land-based whale-watching destinations in the world (seasonal).

After breakfast, depart Hermanus along a scenic coastal route via Somerset West and Stellenbosch in the Cape Winelands. Enjoy free time to explore Stellenbosch’s oak-lined streets, cafés and boutiques before continuing to Cape Town, where the tour concludes.
