Itinerary

Meals included: Lunch & Dinner

Guests are collected between 06:30 and 06:45 from lodges and hotels within a 5 km radius of OR Tambo International Airport. From 06:45 to 07:00, guests are collected at the Shuttle and Bus Terminal at OR Tambo Airport, with departure at 07:15.

Guests also have the option to fly directly into Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport or Skukuza Airport, where your safari guide will collect you at no extra charge. Please confirm your pick-up details at least 7 days prior to departure by emailing travel@familysafarisbookings.com.

Please note that this is a scheduled, shared departure.

After a direct transfer, we arrive at our Hazyview-area lodge between 11:30 and 12:00. You’ll have time to settle in, enjoy lunch, relax by the pool, or take a short walk around the lodge grounds.

At approximately 15:45, we depart for a sunset and night safari in Kruger National Park — a fantastic opportunity to spot nocturnal wildlife. We return to the lodge around 20:00 for dinner and overnight.

Meals included: Breakfast & Dinner

Today begins before sunrise, as early mornings offer the best chances to see predators in action. After a short transfer, we enter Kruger National Park and begin our full-day open vehicle safari.

After around three hours of game viewing, we stop for breakfast, refreshments, and a comfort break (breakfast packs are provided by the lodge). The safari then continues through different eco-zones, including bushveld, open plains, river systems, and waterholes — each supporting a diverse range of wildlife.

Lunch is enjoyed at a Kruger rest camp (for your own account), where you’ll also have time to browse shops or enjoy a drink. We return to the lodge between 15:30 and 16:00, with time to relax, swim, and enjoy dinner.

Meals included: Breakfast & Dinner

After a hot breakfast at 07:30, you’ll depart at 08:00 for a full-day Panorama Route tour in a closed, air-conditioned vehicle.

The route begins with a scenic ascent of approximately 1,000 metres into the Northern Drakensberg Mountains, offering a striking contrast to the Lowveld landscape. Highlights of the day include:

God’s Window, with sweeping views across the escarpment (weather permitting)
Blyde River Canyon, the third-largest canyon in the world
Three Rondavels, iconic rock formations overlooking the canyon
Bourke’s Luck Potholes, formed by centuries of water erosion
Lisbon Falls, a year-round waterfall
The charming town of Graskop, where lunch is enjoyed (for your own account)

There are several short walks during the day, so comfortable walking shoes and a light jacket are recommended. You’ll return to the lodge around 16:00 for dinner and an early night ahead of the next morning’s safari.

Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

We depart before sunrise for another morning game drive in Kruger National Park, focusing on areas and wildlife not yet explored. With over 148 mammal species and 500 bird species, every safari offers something new.

We return to the lodge around 12:00, where the afternoon is yours to enjoy at leisure. Relax by the pool, explore walking trails around the lodge, or simply unwind and soak up the African atmosphere. Lunch and dinner are served at the lodge.

Meals included: Breakfast

Your final safari begins before sunrise, offering one last opportunity to search for wildlife, particularly lions and leopards, which are most active in the early morning hours.

After a stop for coffee and breakfast at a rest camp or picnic site, the safari continues before returning to the lodge around 12:00. You’ll have time to freshen up before boarding the shuttle back to Johannesburg at approximately 12:30.

Arrival at the OR Tambo Shuttle Terminal and nearby lodges (within 5 km) is expected between 17:00 and 18:00.

Important: Flights from OR Tambo should not be booked earlier than 20:00 (domestic) or 21:00 (international).
